WEEK 4- FIGURES FROM ABOVE/BELOW

page from zine
I think there is a marked improvement by the last image, and I generally feel more comfortable drawing people in perspective rather than buildings and objects. I think I need to practice drawing the figure more clearly and not just roughly sketch in feet and hands in a last minute panic.

Figures from above/below: Other Artists

Guim Tió Zarraluki portrait

Guim Tió Zarraluki is a fine art painter from Barcelona, and he produces loads of these haunting portraits. This one above I like because I think the angle changes the way we look at the portrait. We feel like we're viewing her from below, and it emphasises this feeling of being towered over by a large intimidating face, and a face that appears to be disregarding you ( also emphasised by the eye contact)
J. Kroll figure

This very angular and expressive drawing by Kroll makes the model's position appear more surreal, the triangle which suggests the chin/head thrust back and the arms that disappear into straight lines make a drawing that could have appeared too 'plumped out' or confusing instead seem really clean and clear.
