Using ink and brush for the ellipse made this workshop a lot easier for me, however I also think overlapping pencil drawings and ink drawings create visually appealing pages. I think if I practice using lines to divide up cylindrical objects then I would improve the perspective. I drew Moomins for no reason other than that I like them, which I think is a good enough reason to draw anything.
Outside I focused on drawing bikes, and although I don't usually like any work I do with pencil I think the collection of bikes on the page looks better than I had expected. I think the best example of perspective/ ellipsis is the bottom left bike, and I think it was useful to draw as it introduced an angle that I wouldn't think to use when illustrating (see wizard below).
If I had been asked to draw a wizard riding a bike I would have never thought to use the angle above, and show the figure riding a bike from behind. But having the information of the bike, the rest of the illustration fell into place. It's encouraging to see observational work flow into illustration, and although it is not a perfect bike, or by any means a perfect illustration, you can still see the influence from studying ellipsis and I think that's proper great.
